Coolsmurf and Haida’s Reviews On Korean Dramas and Movies

16 October 2007 No Comment

Since I don’t have time to review all Korean Dramas and Movies, I have decided to put here in Kreah Craze the reviews from other blogs that are substantial. Coolsmurf and Haida are one of the K-Addicts that have a very keen eye and taste on K-Dramas and Movies. Here are excerpts of their reviews and links to read the full posts.

I Am Sam

This was another drama that I never thought of watching in the first place if not for me being smitten by Park Min Young. The relatively young cast meant that it was not going to do well in the ratings and it showed. But frankly in a period where the television stations are flooding us…

Capital Scandal

This was a drama that was kind of overwhelmed by the Money Warfare and then Coffee Prince in the same timeslot that saw it took a beating to its ratings. Am glad though that I didn’t miss out on watching this excellent produced drama despite that.
In a nutshell, this drama is based on the novel…

Time of Dog and Wolf

Had been waiting a long time for this to air since this drama was decided. Caught my attention because it had Nam Sang Mi in it plus added attraction of Lee Jun Ki and Jung Kyung Ho (MISA). Thought initially that the story would be boring and only Sang Mi could keep me watching it.

Hello, Mr. God!

Casts:

Yoo Gun as Haru
Kim Ok Bin as Seo Eun Hye
Lee Jong Hyuk as Dr. Park Dong Jae

This drama shows to me the good and the bad side of Korean dramas. It was draggy early when the story started but as the drama progressed, it reminds me why Korean drama is such a wonderful drama that made them popular around the world. First when I start, the drama was a bit slow and the story progressed really slow. It tortured me to finish the first three episodes since it was rather slow and uninteresting. But …

My Girl and I

Casts:

Cha Tae Hyun as Kim Su Ho
Song Hye Kyo as Bae Su Eun

This movie is a Korean remake of a Japanese movie; ‘Crying Out Love in the Centre of the World’. The Japanese version is long and more detail but ‘My Girl and I’ is much simpler and to me, it is much more sweeter. Many may prefer the Japanese version, but to me, both the Japanese and the Korean version have their own advantage and disadvantage.

The movie started of with the main character, Sun Woo recites this narration:
One late autumn night, the disciple awoke crying. So the master asked the disciple, “Did you have a nightmare?”
“No.”
“Did you have a sad dream?”
“No”, said the disciple. “I had a sweet dream.”
“Then why are you crying so sadly?”
The disciple wiped his tears away and quietly answered, “Because the dream I had can’t come true.”
The opening scene had captured my intention with the conversation between the discipline and it’s master. The director made a fine decision with the opening scene; leaving the audience a glimpse to…

Love So Divine

Casts:

Kwon Sang Woo as Kim Kyu Sik
Ha Ji Won as Yang Bong Hee
Kim In Kwon as Seon Dal

Since this a romantic comedy and boost two of Korean’s popular actors in Kwon Sang Woo and Ha Ji Won. My expectation was high when I decided to buy the VCD. Unfortunately… romantic comedy or not.

Il Mare

Casts:

Jeon Ji Hyun as Eun Joo
Lee Jung Jae as Sung Hyun

I have to admit that before I watch this movie, my expectation was very high. I decided to watch this movie after watching ‘The Lake House’ which starred Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Prior reading that ‘The Lake House’ was adapted from a Korean movie ‘Il Mare’, I was delighted and decided to watch ‘Il Mare’ since I feel that the original version must be better. But unfortunately, I cannot say that…

Addicted

Casts:

Lee Byung Hun as Dae Jin
Lee Mi Yeon as Eun Su
Lee Eol as Ho Jin

If you read the synopsis, you will think that this movie is ridicules. But don’t judge it by it’s storyline since this movie is really moving and beautiful. This is the first Korean movies that I watch. Funny, isn’t it? I know that it was late and all, but this movie open the door for me to enjoy other Korean movies and dramas. And it was then that I realize that Koreans are really good in making beautiful love stories. Somehow, they manage to…
