Themes of Kdramas/kseries/kmovies, just noticed

12 April 2007 6 Comments

Watching too much K-dramas and k-movies lately enable me to realize the themes most Korean writers adopt on their stories. I have come up with three lists and I am willing to update these lists once in a while.

Stories with leading character/s who suffer/s a certain illness and then die/s; or the character/s die/s at the end of the story

K-Drama
Autumn in My heart
Stairway to Heaven
I am Sorry, I love You (MISA)
A Love to Kill
Wonderful Life (their daughter is suffering)
A Rosy Life
Irene

K-Movie
My Girl and I
Lover’s Concerto
Daddy Long Legs

Temptation of Wolves

Stories with leading characters under a certain contract or under a mutual agreement

K-Drama
Full House
My Girl
Vineyard Man
Sweet 18
Princess Hours

K-Movie
100 days with Mr. Arrogant
My Little Bride

Stories with leading characters that meet and live together and fall in love eventually

K-Drama
Full House
Princess Hours (forced marriage)
My Girl
Sweet 18 (forced marriage)
Attic Cat
Wonderful Life (have to marry because of the baby)
The Man in the Vineyard
Over the Rainbow

K-Movie
My Little Bride (forced marriage)

March 29, 2007: I thought of adding this list.

List of K-dramas and movies where the leading characters are reminiscing the past, especially if they are lonely or crying.

Full House, Man of the Vineyard, MISA,

A Love to Kill, Fireworks, Over the Rainbow

Well, I think I don’t have to write them all. Hmmmm…

Oh oh oh. So true. Also, for the category where people have an illness and die at the end, you should add Millionaire’s first Love.

And for the category where theres a certain agreement/contract, you should add Coffee Prince (the boyfriend contract), Dal Ja’s Spring, and She is 19 (My Sister in Law is 19)

And for the category where characters live and eventually fall in love w/ each other you should add Taste Sweet Love (Snow White), I Really Really Like You, and Tree of Heaven.

    Just to name a few. : \

another thing that i noticed in k-dramas..

at least one of its characters plays a musical instrument,.
but most commonly,. they play the piano..

are koreans required to learn how to play an istrument?
    i’m just curious..
all k-dramas i’ve watched,. the actors/actresses really play well.

Also Shim bi in wonderful life did not die but was on her way to recovery after the bone marrow transplant.
